SIGNED AND PERSONALIZED BOOKS
If you’d like a signed book, my beloved local shop, East Bay Booksellers, made a page where you can order them. And to get a book personalized to someone, just include their name as a note in the order. I get over to the bookstore pretty often, and the good folks at EBB will get them off to you as soon as I sign.
SOME LIVE EVENTS
I’ll be doing a few more events before the end of the year. Pittsburgh, The Bay Area, New York City, and Maplewood, NJ. Everything is up at the events section of my website. Well, almost everything. There’ll be two more events with Jon Klassen—one in Manhattan on 12/2 and one in San Francisco on 12/10—but those haven’t been announced yet. I will write again about them soon. (And post about them on Instagram.)
NOTHINGNESS AND ANTI-MATTER
I once again had the pleasure of reviewing some new picture books in The New York Times Book Review, where I also aired some misgivings about the Current State of Picture Book Backmatter. You can read the piece here.
I ACCIDENTALLY BROKE MY HEART
The other night I was trying to track down a Maurice Sendak quote for a thing I’m writing and went back to his final interview with Terry Gross on Fresh Air. I remember listening to it when it first aired more than ten years ago and sobbing in my car. Just reading the transcript had me in tears again. And it turns out it wasn’t even the interview with the quote I was looking for. It’s a remarkable conversation—worth a listen, provided you’re up for feeling sad, which you very understandably might not be. Here’s a link.
MORE SOON
OK, I’ll be back soon. I’m thankful for you all!
Mac
Hey Mac, good to see you here. I heard you speak a couple of times at SCBWI in LA, many years ago. I come from the kid lit world, but I’m now writing this! Love your books, own many of them and so did my kids (when they were younger). Cheers!
Also, will save the Sendak interview for later this week when I’m up for feeling sad (which seems to happen frequently so I’m sure it won’t be too long).
